Please login to the wiki and get involved. Logging in is easy — just create a username/password. Please help us police the wiki for spam.

Thanks — OWD 2007 is just 10 months away.

Part of the OneWebDay celebration will be, we hope, to create visual, collaborative online events of all kinds.

OneWebDay moving along

November 17th, 2006  |  by onewebday  |  Published in Uncategorized

We heard just the other day that the government of Israel is very interested in supporting OneWebDay celebrations there in 2007, and we look forward to hearing more.

We’re working on the OneWebDay video still — the compilation of things from around the world, set to music and freely downloadable everywhere. It’s a labor of love, but it also takes time. And money! If you feel moved to donate to OneWebDay, Inc., please use the PayPal button on the right of the page.

And we’re still working on getting full-time help here to do outreach and create packages for OneWebDay celebrations for 2007.

Remember what Tim Berners-Lee dreamed about the web — he wanted it to become a much more powerful means for collaboration between people. He wanted it to make people-to-people communication through shared knowledge easier for groups of all sizes. OneWebDay celebrates these mind-to-mind collaborations.

OneWebDay and Bulgaria

November 9th, 2006  |  by onewebday  |  Published in Uncategorized

We checked in with our Sofia friends recently and it was wonderful. They had a great time on Sept. 22 and really want to dig in and do a lot to celebrate OneWebDay next year — it’s also Bulgarian Independence Day, so there are many tie-ins. We took pictures, talked about the web business in Bulgaria, and worried collectively about the fact that laws/regulations/orders aren’t easily or freely available online in Bulgaria. It was very inspiring to meet the people there who had started new businesses and changed their lives completely through internet access over the last ten years. Bulgaria is just about to join the European Union, and there is a lot of anticipation there about what that will mean for them — and a lot of hope that the deep technical resources in Bulgaria will find additional customers in other countries as a result of this change.

Our next trip is to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in early December. We’ll report on who we talk to there.

OneWebDay, Inc. is looking for funding support to help make sure the OneWebDay word sweeps around the world next year. You can donate on this site using the button on the right. And if you happen to run a major foundation or company — don’t be shy about getting in touch with us!
